ABSTRACT

Herein, we report two cases of patients who presented to our clinic because of decrease in vision. Fundus examination revealed diffuse macular edema, preretinal hemorrhages and soft exudates as well as sclerotic changes in the retinal arterioles, venous dilatation, and Gunn sign bilaterally in both cases and macular star in the right eye in one of them. There were leaking spots that increased in the late phase of fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA). These findings were consistent with high-grade hypertensive retinopathy. Urea and creatinine levels were found to be increased in laboratory investigations made due to systemic hypertension in one case and fatigue in both cases. The two patients were referred to internal medicine department and were taken into hemodialysis program with the diagnosis of chronic renal failure. After hemodialysis, vision increased in both cases and fundus findings were regressed.
