ABSTRACT

Surgical infections are one of the major problems in ophthalmology and can be seen because of many factors, including the conditions of the operating rooms, surgical staff, surgical devices and the patient. In addition to facilities in operations, the improvements in surgical procedures may have a negative effect on both surgeons and people for underestimation of ocular surgeries. Also, increased applications of intravitreal injections of some medicines in recent years may have effect on the frequency of surgical infections. The proper application of antibiotic prophylaxis is one of the major factors in preventing these infections.
