ABSTRACT
Discussion:
In DRS with apropriate decision of the surgical procedure, abnormal head position, horizontal deviation, globe retraction and elevation or depression in adduction may be improved. Horizontal rectus recession is a simple and effective procedure option for eliminating abnormal head position and primary position deviation.
Results:
Unilateral recession of the horizontal rectus muscles in 25 patients (61%), bilateral recession in 5 patients (12.2%), vertical transposition surgery in 2 (4.9%), Y-split surgery the lateral rectus recession in 3 (7.3%), recession of the both horizontal rectus muscles in 6 (14.6%) patients because of significant globe retraction and elevation or depression in adducti- on. Postoperative primer position alignment improved in 34 patients (82.9%). Abnormal head position improved totally in 16 (47%) and partially in 9 patients (26.5%).
Method:
The data of the 41 patient with DRS have been evaluated retrospectively. Surgical indications were abnormal head position and significant horizontal deviation in primary position, elevation or depression in adduction or severe glob retraction.
Aim:
To report the surgical approach and the results in DRS.
