ABSTRACT

A 54 year-old male presented with decreased vision and pain in his right eye. His best corrected visual acuity was 0.6 in the right eye and 1.0 in the left eye. He had corneal opasity, exophthalmus and mild optic disc oedema in the right eye and normal findings in the left eye. Right eye movements were restricted about -1 in lateral gaze and -2 in vertical gaze. There was a concentric defect in the right visual field and a lesion surrounding the proximal 2/3 part of the right optic nerve in orbital MR. Although optic nerve sheath meningioma is generally characterized by unpainful visual loss and exophthalmus in middle-aged woman, it should be searched in every case presenting with progressive unilateral visual loss.
