ABSTRACT

Functional visual loss refers to difficult clinical situations that may lead to medicolegal issues in ophthalmological practice. The examination methods for real and organic symptoms in traditional medical practice are insufficient in approaching to patients with functional visual loss. Although electrodiagnostic tests are the most effective weapon of the ophthalmologists, a number of wrong attitudes resulting from lack of knowledge and experience are seen. On this basis, electrodiagnostic approach to patients with functional visual loss will be explained by means of an ideal case. (Turk J Ophthalmol 2011; 41: 60-5)
