ABSTRACT
During an ordinary phaco surgery case, we observed a floppy iris that billows in response to normal irrigation currents and tendency for the iris to prolapse to corneal incisions. The iris constricted progressively and posterior capsule rupture complication occurred. A sulcus fixated IOL was implanted. It was learned that he was taking Flomax ( Tamsulosin HCl ) for benign prostatic hypertrophy. The case was intraoperative floppy iris syndrome ( IFIS ) defined recently.
