Purpose:

To evaluate the early period of patients implanted with Acrysof ReSTOR® IOL during cataract surgery.

Methods:

In this prospective type study, 117 eyes of 60 patients implanted with Acrysof ReSTOR®IOL were involved standart phacoemülsification performed. We evaluated the refractive status, distance visual acuity, near visual acuity, intermediate visual acuity, contrast sensitivity after postoperative 1th month and 6th month.

Results:

The postoperative refractive outcomes of Acrysof Restor IOL implanted patients are as follows; 102 eyes (%82) are between +0.25 D and -0.25 D), 6 eyes (%) are between -0,25 D and -0.50 D, 5 eyes (%) are between +0.25 D and+0.50 D), 1 eye is between -0.50 and -1.00 D, 3 eyes are between +0.50 and +1.00 D.At 6 month uncorrected distance vision 108(%92) eyes 10/10, 6(%5) eyes 8/10, 2(%2) eyes 7/10, 1(%1) eye 6/10,corrected distance vision 115(%98) eyes 10/10, 1(%1) eye 8/10, 1(%1) eye 6/10.Uncorrected near vision 114(%97) eyes J2 and up, 3(%3) eyes J3-J4.Distance corrected near vision 115(%98) eyes J2 and up, 2(%2) eyes J3-J4.Uncorrected intermediate vision 86(%74) eyes J2 and up, 13(%11) eyes J3-J4, 18(%15) eyes J5.Distance corrected intermediate vision 97(%83) eyes J2 and up, 9(%8) eyes J3-J4, 11(%9) eyes J5. Contrast sensivity under the normal dispersion bent in first months altought after the thirth month it was eveluated in the normal dispersion bent.

Conclusion:

After acrysof Restor IOL implatation vision recovery rapidly but contrast sensitivity recovery after 3 month. Implantation of the ReSTOR®IOL offered excellent visual acuity at distance and near. Spectacle independence was significantly higher with this multifocal IOL, which outweighed the glare and halo symptoms it caused.
