In this article, the materials used for glass (mineral) and plastic (organic) spectacle lenses and the properties of monofocal, bifocal, trifocal and multifocal spectacle lenses are investigated. On the other hand, the new generation personalized lenses, which were produced by freeform technology and customized high resolution (HD) wavefront-guided spectacle lenses and ongoing glass research studies are also discussed.
